RaceNOW! Teaching Clinic.
PREREQUISITES:
These three-hour clinics provide an opportunity for intermediate sailors to learn the fundamentals of sailboat racing. Each clinic includes racing strategy, tactics and the basics of the racing rules. Sailing in teams of 2 racers per boat, we head out in our fleet of 20’ Blanchard Jr. Knockabouts keelboats while receiving expert coaching from CWB Racing Instructor Oliver Davis. All participants will have the opportunity to serve in the role of racing skipper and crew during multiple races (usually 5-6 races). This approach has proven to be an excellent pathway to honing sailing and leadership skills on a boat. After racing, you’ll rejoin your instructors and competitors in our outdoor classroom for a “chalk talk” and debrief learning even more from video footage of all the action. It’s a fun-filled night designed to prepare you in joining our RaceNOW! Racing Series evenings as desired or become crew in other racing events!
RaceNOW! Series - Evening Racing.
PREREQUISITES:
Once you’ve completed a RaceNOW! Teaching Clinic (or any previous year's CWB RaceNOW! program), you’re ready to race on your own with Principle Racing Officials (PROs) on a committee boat calling the shots. Three hours of racing on Wednesdays each week! Bring a friend as crew or we'll pair you with another skipper. Price is per person each evening via pre-registration. Join for one evening or a handful! Racing scores are averaged over the entire evening and are shared during an informal gathering capping off the night.
- Cancellation more than 15 days in advance: 50% refund of the course fee.
- Cancellation 14 or fewer days in advance of the course: No refund.
Please Note: CWB reserves the right to cancel any course due to emergency or lack of enrollment. In such case, we will refund tuition in full. If traveling from out of area, we strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance in the event we must cancel this class.
**Reminder: This course REQUIRES participants have passed a CWB sailing checkout and have a current sailing livery card. The ONLY exception are friends registered as CREW on racing series nights with a skipper who has attended a clinic.**
Once registered, participants will receive a confirmation email including more details with a link to complete final registration and our liability waiver.
Member pricing is available to current CWB members. Members may register their friends as crew with at the member price. Membership will be verified. Please renew or become a member right away if selecting member pricing. Annual membership starts at $50. Thank you!
